The fame of the contest, has become legend amongst serious outrageous shirt enthusiasts!
Below is an excerpt printed in 'American Shirt Fancier' magazine;

ASF; 'Carlthepirate, you have started a global campaign to encourage loud shirt wearing, did you anticipate the enormous impact this would have on the ordinary citizens of the world?'

Carlthepirate; 'Well, at first we just fooled around with the idea in the pub, so as to speak, but then we realised the enormous misery in the world, what with people being embarrassed to talk about their secret passion for outrageous shirts, being constantly told 'hey you are not going to wear that are you?' etc by the very people , who had often bought the shirts inthe first place!'

ASF; ' Rick C, from USA , has become undisputed world champion, how did that make you feel?'

Carlthepirate;,' I'm so pleased for the guy! he's tops! It took me a little while to convince him of the merits, but he has taken to the concept like a duck to water! his style is unsurpassed, I salute him!'

ASF; 'Did Rick C ,give you any hint that he was a secret shirtist?'

Carlthepirate;
' Well, not exactly, his wife, Dot ,gave me some hints one time, when she commented on a 'dragon motif', shirt I was wearing, she said ; 'Oooh you're just like my husband! he likes crazy shirts too! are you freakin ' nuts too!, it was then that I knew I had to help Rick.But, like all great instigators of anything original,, I was taught new truths by my pupil!'

Rick told me about his secret desires to wear his shirts to work etc, he said it had all started years ago, in the Marine Corps in SE Asia. Lots of guys there on R and R, would wear Hawaiian shirts and smoke cigars, whilst riding Honda mopeds! , Rick was a Harley man, so he associated outrageous shirts with 'lesser' biking enthusiasts, and developed a hatred of mopeds, this in turn led to 'repressed shirtism', which festered for years in his psyche, only with great encouragement did Rick show me his 'manga-themed' masterpiece, which unfortunately we have no pictures of....this was the first winner of the contest! now Rick is undisputed world champion! [we hope to have pics soon],
These days Rick can be seen out and about in Boston, wearing his shirts with pride!
[and these days, he even likes 'Little Honda', by 'The Beach Boys'.]

ASF; 'Wow , what a story! this years contest attracted a world-wide audience, we at ASF wish you guys well!, we heard that Jay Leno may enter next years competition, do you have any details yet?, on dates and venues?'

Carlthepirate;' Nothing certain yet, but we hope to get to Hawaii as soon as possible , but we'll keep up postings on this site!, as for Jay Leno, he , and anyone else are welcome to join us!'

ASF;' Thank you for your time, best wishes to all contestants,'

Carlthepirate;' A pleasure Dave, would you allow us to post a pic of your lemon/orange ruffled shirt? it matches your ginger moustache!'

ASF; 'Oooh no thanks! goodbye all you guys at OSOTW!'

Carlthepirate; 'whats up Dave?, you are amongst friends here......'

[interview ended as Dave of ASF ran out of door]

Article from 'Nippon Shirtist' magazine;

T.Hino[NSM];'We like very much your idea of shirtism, are you influenced by 'Zen' ideas?

Carlthepirate;'Of course Tommy', can you imagine anything better?'

[NSM];'Colour is important facet of design,do you recommend any particular combinations?'

Carlthepirate;'No, the choice is yours!'

[NSM];'We hold meetings every sunday in Central Park, Tokyo, where we like to listen to Beach Boys music , drink beer and dance around , some older citizens think we are 'silly' , but we are inspired by your efforts to globalize shirtism '

Carlthepirate; Thank you Tommy, but you should remind any 'elders', that colourful shirt attire ,was always a facet of ancient Japanese culture!, even Master Saigo, loved colour!, We here, like the idea, of park get togethers with music, we hear you have an artificial beach somewhere in Tokyo, why not hold your venue there?'

[NSM] 'We will look into possibilities! thank you Pirate-san!'
